Sunday: Take a Breath. Make Room for God.

Some Sundays, you wake up ready to worship. Other Sundays, you wake up tired—with last week still on your mind and next week already asking for your attention. You think about getting up and going but bedside baptist is calling your name. 

Wherever you find yourself today, bring the way you feel in you heart before the Lord. You do not have to find the perfect words. Start with what is true: “Father, I’m so grateful.” “Lord, I’m tired, stressed and don’t know which way to turn.” “I need Your help.”

There is room for all of that in prayer.

“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24, KJV

That verse meets us in real life wherever you are. There may still be bills on the table, a difficult conversation ahead, or someone we are praying will come home or their right mind. Yet this day is still a gift from God, and there is something in it for which we can give thanks.

As you worship today, give yourself time to listen. Deuteronomy 28:1 instructs us to listen diligently and obey.  Perhaps this Scripture or another will stay with you today. Perhaps the words of a familiar hymn will mean more than they did last week. Write down what speaks to your heart, and return to it during the week.

If you are gathering with your church family, look for someone who might need a kind word. If you are home today, reach out to someone you can connect with. A simple “I was thinking about you” can mean more than you realize.

And when the service is over, let the conversation continue. Ask your family what stood out to them. Share what you are learning. Pray together, even if the prayer is brief. The key thing is whatever you do, immerse yourself in the Word of God.

Let’s pray: Father, thank You for bringing us through another week. You know what each of us is carrying. You know exactly what we are in need of. We trust and seek You in all of our ways. Help us to hear You today. Our desire is to receive Your Word, and extend Your love to someone else. In Jesus’ name, amen.
